He tests all three Pirelli compounds
Montreal, June 10th 2016.- Carlos Sainz was tenth at the second Free Practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix. The driver from Scuderia Toro Rosso completed 42 laps and used all the Pirelli compounds available for the event.
Initially, Carlos started his work with the supersoft tyre, the only one he had tested earlier in the morning. He did nine laps on them, a medium-length run on which he improved the times he set in Free Practice 1.
With air temperature at 20ºC and track at 42ºC -even though weather forecasts suggest conditions may vary in the upcoming days-, Carlos went out on track on the ultrasoft tyres. He went for a fast lap, a 1'15"410 that was enough to claim the tenth place on the standings. He held it together for another six laps before returning to the pits. Later, he was able to do a long run on that very same set, 15 laps he finished with some issues related to tyre-wear.
Finally, the Toro Rosso used the hardest compound available and clocked the final 10 laps of the day with it. Carlos followed a regular pace, always in 1'18, quite faster than his rythm with the used ultrasofrts.
"The good news about today is that we didn't have any issues and that I could complete de program we had prepared. We tested the three tyre compounds, it all went smooth, but Q3 will be a hard target for tomorrow. Everything's very tight within the Top 10, and even though we made it today in both sessions truth is there are some teams that always find an extra bit in Qualifying. We'll fight all the way. We'll try, no doubt", Carlos said.
Tomorrow action will continue in Montreal. The third and final free practice session, the prologue to the Qualifying session, will commence at 16:00 Spanish time. We await for you in www.carlosainzz.es and @carlosainzinfo to follow it live.
