Carlos Sainz completes the seat fitting for the 2017 Toro Rosso

The Spaniard shares the experience on YouTube

Madrid, December 23rd 2016.- Carlos Sainz visited this week Scuderia Toro Rosso’s factory in the Italian city of Faenza, where he went through a busy schedule with several meetings and appointments to prepare the 2017 Formula 1 season.

Carlos had his seat fitting for the new car, whose production process advances in the build-up to the preseason testing, which will kick-off in Barcelona on February 27th.

The launch date is yet to be revealed, but the team showed Carlos a replica of the cockpit. They used it to complete the seat fitting to ensure that the driver felt comfortable both with the driving position and the steering-wheel movement.

This was Carlos Sainz’s last visit to the factory prior to the Christmas break, although he will keep up with his training program to prepare for the physical challenge that is expected from the new cars.

The Spaniard showed his new seat in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.

"We are here in Faenza, a half an hour drive from Bologna, Italy. I’m really looking forward to the start of the new season, although now we will have a little Christmas and some family time", he said.

"As you can see, we’re fully focused in next year. This will be my seat for the new office. I’ll be doing 15,000 or 20,000 kilometers seating here in a Formula 1, which would be like going from Madrid to Sidney".

"The seat is shaped to my body. It’s made of a special foam which adjusts to my back, my hip, my legs… We’re well protected so we don’t move under G-Forces. They will later add the seat belts, scan it all and turn it into carbon fiber. This way it will weight only 500 grams, instead of the current three or four kilos. You save three kilos, which in Formula 1 is very important".

"Now I go on holidays feeling relaxed and with my seat finished. I am really looking forward to returning here and keep on pushing", he concluded.
