He will work on optimizing his R.S.18 in a challenging track for the team
- Tyre and set-up work in the afternoon session for the Renault team on a track more challenging than the previous ones.
- A mechanical issue prevented Carlos from setting a representative lap-time on supersoft tyres. His fastest lap (1:20.672) was on softs.
- Qualifying will be challenging for the team, but Q3 still remains as the goal for tomorrow.
“It was a challenging Friday. We knew it would be harder in this circuit, because we already felt that way in preseason testing. We are investigating the cause. There are 21 different tracks in the season calendar and they can’t all be perfect for our car, but we will seize its margin for improvement”.
“We had a mechanical issue which costed us time on my flying lap on supersofts. It is a shame, but that confirms that there is margin for improvement. Still we expect a tough Qualifying”.
“I have seen many Renault hats in the circuit. I don’t know if they are all fans of my grandstand, but I do love that view. We will go for it on Saturday and Sunday to try and give them something they can be happy about”.
