Carlos Sainz lands in the British GP as a local driver

British GP, Silverstone Circuit (5.891 metres, 18 corners, in the calendar since 1950)

  • Carlos Sainz wants to fight back in the British GP after the disappointment of last week’s race in Austria, where he was not able to take the start of the race due to a technical problem.
  • Silverstone is a favourite for the Spanish race driver: it was here where he did his very first test in a Formula 1 car back in 2013 and it was also here where he clinched his maiden Grand Prix victory.
  • This race is made even more special this year, both because Formula 1 will be celebrating its 75th anniversary at the track that kickstarted the World Championship back in 1950 but also because it is Williams’ home race. The factory of Grove is just 66 kilometres down the road from the racetrack.

QUOTES:
“We bounce back from the weekend straight into our home Grand Prix for the team. I have great memories at Silverstone, so I am glad that the next race isn’t too far away after missing out in Austria. We’re continuously pushing as a team to identify our strengths and weaknesses and improve on them, so we’ll hopefully come back fighting this weekend. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the fans now that I’m a driver for a British team again! Vamos!”.
