He is seventh in the Championship ahead of the penultimate round in the calendar
Sao Paulo, November 14th 2019.- Carlos Sainz has arrived at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, home this weekend to the Brazilian Grand Prix, the penultimate round of the 2019 Formula 1 season.
The Paulist track, also known as Interlagos due to its geographical situation, is one of the most charismatic rounds in the calendar due to the passion of its fans, the famous ‘torcida’. Brazil has been in the Championship ever since its maiden race in 1973.
Carlos’ best performance to this day is a sixth place in the wet 2016 Grand Prix, in which he put together a comeback drive from the fifteenth spot of the grid.
The Spaniard of McLaren is seventh in the Drivers’ Championship following his eighth place at the United States GP, where he passed Pierre Gasly in the standings to become the first driver behind the three big teams. McLaren is fourth in the Constructors’ with 38 points over its nearest competitor.
The tyres available for the weekend are the C1, the C2 and the C3, which will be identified as the hard, the medium and the soft compound respectively. Carlos will have two sets of the hardest option, three of the intermediate one and eight of the softest.
"Interlagos is a great circuit and certainly a fun place to go racing. The fans are always very passionate and the history of the event speaks for itself. We head to Brazil seeking to extrat the maximum of our car and score more points on the board. The season is not over yet, with the more races to go and there are still many points to fight for. Confirming our fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship is the target and I’ll push hard until the end for that sixth place in the Drivers’, despite the difficulty of the task".
The Brazilian GP will begin on Friday with the first Free Practice sessions, which will be held at 11:00 and 15:00 local time, 15:00 and 19:00 Spanish time. As always, you will be able to be up to date with Carlos both through his social media channels and his official website www.carlossainz.es.
