Carlos Sainz achieves a well-fought twelfth place at the Brazilian GP

  • Carlos finished twelfth in the circuit of Interlagos after a race filled with battles on track with other drivers, although there were no points at stake.
  • The Spaniard did another great start, overtaking two cars including his teammate Nico Hülkenberg, with whom he had a wheel-to-wheel battle until he passed him.
  • Renault changed strategies halfway into the race and called for an extra stop to switch for supersofts. On them, Carlos overtook Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly in the last lap.

"It was a fun race, many battles. It was a pity that those battles weren’t for points, but I had a good time. Maybe we would have been closer to the points if we had started from a better position, but we wouldn’t have been able to go much further. The truth is that today we didn’t have more pace than our main rivals".

"I did a good start and I moved up two spots. Then I passed a Sauber and also Nico. We always find each other in the starts, because we tend to start together. We respect each other, we leave each other space. We are teammates, but it was fun".

"In the last part of the race, I passed Pierre Gasly. I had a great exit out of the last corner. The Honda engine has a very solid power band, but I got together with him and I passed him through the outside line".

Formula One will travel now to the United Arab Emirates, home to the last race of the season in two weeks’ time: the Abu Dhabi GP. Until then, you can be up-to-date with Carlos on social media and on his official website
