Last race of the 2019 Formula 1 season
Yas Island, November 28th of 2019.- Carlos Sainz is well underway in his preparation for the Abu Dhabi GP, which will take place this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit as the 2019 Formula 1 season comes to an end.
The McLaren driver made it to the paddock feeling the momentum of the podium he secured two weeks ago in Brazil, his first one in the series. He is ready to push once again as he strives for a good result that helps his hopes in the Championship, where he is fighting for sixth place.
The Spaniard is tied in points with Pierre Gasly and has 11 points over Alexander Albon, his two rivals in this contest. McLaren clinched the fourth place of the Constructors’ title in Brazil following the brilliant result achieved in the last race.
Carlos’ best result to date in the Yas Marina dates back to last years’ event, when the Spaniard was able to comeback from eleventh to finish the race in sixth place.
The tyres available for the weekend are the C3, the C4 and the C5, which will be identified as the hard, the medium and the soft compound respectively. Carlos will have one set of the hardest option, four of the intermediate one and eight of the softest.
"The podium of Brazil was really special. In these past few days I have had the chance to celebrate it both with the team and with my family, but we couldn’t get distracted too much because we had to turn our focus to Abu Dhabi. We know that there is still a lot at stake. Our goal is to wrap-up the year with another good result that helps us in the Championship, a positive result that gives us even more motivation for the upcoming winter".
The Abu Dhabi GP will begin on Friday with the first Free Practice sessions, which will be held at 13:00 and 17:00 local time, 10:00 and 14:00 Spanish time. As always, you will be able to be up to date with Carlos both through his social media channels and his official website www.carlossainz.es.
